The count
A count in Stocktaka is kept against the location it was taken in, with who counted, what was expected and what was found, so this month can be compared with last month instead of both being retyped.
The variance
Counted against expected, line by line, with the unit cost you hold, so the answer is not just how many are missing but what the missing ones are worth and which lines are worth chasing first.
The reorder
Each item carries its own reorder point and the count flags every line under it, so the order you place after the count is the order the count actually asked for rather than a guess.
If you run stock across several warehouses, need barcode picking and packing, or have to post inventory into an ERP, buy a suite and do not buy this. Stocktaka is for the business whose stock lives in a handful of places and whose real problem is that the count is on a clipboard and nobody can compare it with last month.
